Restoration of Paintings, Photographs, and Frames

The goal of our fine art restoration department is to conserve and repair each subject with minimal intervention in a manner that will best preserve the art for future generations. Our professional restorers can evaluate your painting and/or frame and make appropriate recommendations for proper treatment and care.

Painting restoration may include:

•    Cleaning to remove dirt and old varnish
•    Painting stabilization and consolidation
•    Previous restoration removal
•    Canvas relining and patching
•    Infilling and inpainting of missing paint
•    Stretching and varnishing

Frame restoration methods we offer:

•    Structural repair
•    Casting and carving
•    Gilding in metal leaf
•    Cleaning, refinishing and patination

Fire and water damage restoration:

Wall decor that has been damaged by water, smoke or fire can usually be successfully restored. It is essential that framed artwork that has been exposed to excess moisture be properly and quickly disassembled to be allowed to dry. Our base charge for insurance quotes begins at fifty dollars. This amount will be credited towards the cost of restoration if we are hired to complete the work. All items for art restoration must be brought to our showroom for examination and a quote. No appointment is required. We can also arrange for a pickup by appointment.

Photograph restoration:

Antique or damaged photos can be restored in most cases. Many photographic services are available including, digital restoration, enlargement, copy work, and colorization. Photos and artwork can be reproduced on photographic paper, fine art paper (watercolor paper), and canvas. We will evaluate and quote based on the amount of work that needs to be completed.
